5 Questions To Ask Before You Buy Your Dream Home…

Finding your forever home is…well, it’s a pretty big deal. It’s not something you should take lightly; you’re going to be living in this place, fingers crossed, for the rest of time. Let that sink in. It could be 30, 40, 50 years…or even longer. Nobody can predict your lifespan, but you can make sure you find the home you want to spend your entire life in (both good times and bad times) with the advice below.

Take a look and you’ll find the questions that will help you to find your forever home:

Does This Neighborhood Fit Your Lifestyle?

[This post contains ads] You might have found an absolutely beautiful home that you know you and your family will be practically euphoric in, but you can’t pick it up and move it to another neighborhood. You’ll want to think about whether the neighborhood is loud (are there any parties?), the amenities in the area, the people, whether it’s near the city/your place of work, and the nightlife – if you’re into that kind of thing. Make sure you know what you want (and what you don’t want) from a neighborhood before you start your search. Then you can really begin to narrow things down.

Is There Room To Renovate?

Many experts say that you should buy the worst home in a nice neighborhood. Sounds weird? If you do this, you can then spend money on renovations, which will increase the value of your home, and ultimately you will live in a neighborhood that you may not have been able to afford otherwise! Smart, right? Obviously it shouldn’t be a complete fixer upper if you’re looking to move in right away, but you should consider making allowances if there’s a possibility you’ll make renovations in future.

What Are Your Transportation Options?

Is there a place to park your car? Will you need public transport at any point, and is it close by? Make sure you look into transport links as you never know when you might need them!

What Is Your Budget?

Knowing your budget is of course another crucial aspect of home buying. It’s time to get really honest with yourself. Before you go looking at Triangle House Hunter for the most expensive and luxurious properties, do the math. What can you afford in terms of mortgage, insurance, bills, and so on? You don’t want to feel like you’ve made a mistake if you have to make a lot of sacrifices!

What Is The History Of The Home?

Find out the home’s history if you can. Have there been busted pipes? What is the age of things like the roof and the windows? Is it prone to pest infestations? Is it stigmatized? Is this where there has been a murder, ghost sightings, and that kind of thing? These things may give you negotiating power!
